Manual Breast Pump

With only a few parts, the breast pump can be put together in no time.
The correct placement is immediately visible through the transparent cup. For extra comfort, the particularly soft SKINSOFT™ silicone cup can be used.
Quick and quiet pumping thanks to the ergonomic grip makes using the pump especially easy – regardless of whether you’re at home, at work or on the go.

Before using the MAM Manual Breast Pump for the first time, all parts that will come into contact with the breast and breast milk must be taken apart, cleaned and sterilised.
Cleaning the breast pump following pumping is easy and uncomplicated thanks to the low number of parts. It is important to first disassemble the breast pump into all of its individual parts.
It can be cleaned by hand with warm, soapy water or in the dishwasher (in the top rack or in the cutlery compartment). MAM recommends cleaning the valve body and the valve membrane by hand.
Allow all parts to dry completely before using.

Each individual part of the breast pump must be sterilised before the first use as well as once a day.
They can be placed in a pan of boiling water for at least five minutes, in an electric steriliser or in a microwave steam steriliser, as well as in sterilising fluid without heat.
It is important to disassemble the breast pump into all of its individual parts before sterilising and to allow these to completely cool and dry before use.

The expressed milk can be stored for 24 hours in the MAM Anti-Colic – with teat and sealing cap or with the sealing discs – in the fridge (not in the door). This means that the milk is on hand immediately.

In order to store milk for up to three months, the MAM Storage Solution was developed: In the smart cups the milk can be stored hygienically and safely. It can then be frozen and simply defrosted when required.

The MAM Anti-Colic and MAM Storage Solution can be screwed directly onto the Manual Breast Pump – this ensures that every drop of the precious milk is safely captured.

Note the date of expression directly on the MAM Storage Solution – the MAM designers have provided an area for you to do this. This means that the oldest milk can always be used up first.

Frozen milk defrosts easily overnight in the fridge or at room temperature.
To warm it up, the best option is to pour the breast milk into the bottle and simply warm it up in a waterbath or in a baby food warmer. Remove the sealing cap to do this!

Nipple Shields

MAM Nipple Shields are intended as short-term breastfeeding aid. The use of Nipple shields can be beneficial in the following situations:

  • Sore Nipples:
Nipple Shields can provide relief for sore nipples, allowing to continue breastfeeding while healing occurs.
  • Flat or Inverted Nipples:
For mothers with flat or inverted nipples, nipple shields can help draw out the nipple, making it easier for the baby to latch on.
  • Latching Difficulties:
If your baby is having trouble latching correctly, a nipple shield can assist in creating a more effective latch.
Only use nipple shields in consultation with a midwife, lactation consultant or health advisor.

MAM Nipple Shields are available in three different sizes:

  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Sterilise the Nipple Shields. Let them cool.
  3. Invert the wings.
  4. Place on nipple and smooth out wings. Check that the shield fits the nipple and is firmly attached before breastfeeding.
  5. Let your baby latch. Baby’s lips should completely surround the base of the nipple shield, not just the tip of it. Make sure that the baby’s nose and chin are positioned in the cut-outs provided.
Clean nipple shields before first and after each use.
Before first use place nipple shields in boiling water for 5 minutes. This is to ensure hygiene.

Cleaning
There are two recommended methods for cleaning MAM Nipple Shields:

1. Cleaning by hand
Begin by rinsing the MAM Nipple Shields in cold, clear water. Then wash thoroughly in warm, soapy water using a mild detergent. After washing, rinse the shield with cold, clean water.

2. Cleaning in the dishwasher
The Nipple Shields can be cleaned in the dishwasher at a temperature of max. 65 °C, using commercially available dishwashing detergent. It is recommended to place them on the top rack of the dishwasher.

Sterilising
There are four recommended methods for sterilising MAM Nipple Shields:

1. Sterilisation through boiling
Boil the Nipple Shields in fresh water for at least 5 minutes.

2. Sterilisation using the MAM Microwave Steriliser & Carry Box aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubWFtYmFieS5jb20vbWVkaWEvOGYvMzcvNDYvMTczODY3NTg3My9OaXBwbGVTaGllbGRzX1N0ZXJpbGlzYXRpb25fRU4uanBn
When using the self-sterilising method, please ensure the Nipple Shields, box and microwave (including the waveguide-cover and turntable) are COMPLETELY CLEAN and free from dirt, food residue, fat or oil splashes. If not, this could lead to the product or box melting and the microwave sparking or the waveguide cover burning!

  • First, hold box and fill to the mark with 15 ml / 0.5 fl oz of water.
  • Next, place nipple shield(s) in the box, up to 2 shields can be sterilised in one box.
  • Close the box and heat in the microwave at 750 – 1000 watts for 3 minutes. Up to 2 boxes can be sterilised at the same time. Follow the user manual of your microwave.
  • Don’t put the steriliser box at the center of the turntable.
  • Don’t leave your microwave unattended during the sterilising process! Stop the microwaving-process immediately if whole water is vaporised.
  • Allow to cool for at least 3 minutes. Open microwave.
  • CAUTION! The box, water and Nipple Shields may still be very hot after the 3-minute cooling period!
  • After microwave sterilising, Nipple Shields kept in the closed box will remain disinfected for up to 48 hours.
  • For immediate use open box and drain remaining water.
  • Leave Nipple Shields to dry in slightly open box.
  • Check the temperature of the Nipple Shields before use!
  • Improper water level, power level or time setting can damage the microwave, Nipple Shields and box and result in poor disinfection!
  • For use only with MAM Nipple Shields!
  • Keep the steriliser box away from children.

3. Steam sterilising
Electric or microwave steam sterilising according to manufacturers instructions.

4. Liquid sterilising solution
In order to store sterilised nipple shields hygienically, keep them in the closed sterilised carry box.

Recycling

Unwanted electrical equipment is the UKs fastest growing type of waste. Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.
To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.

What is WEEE?
The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items. In the UK, distributors (including retailers) must provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge. Those establishing their own take-back scheme must as a minimum offer all customers buying new electrical equipment free take back of their old electricals on a like-for-like basis.

Find more information about WEEE recycling and where to locate your local recycling centre at https://repic.co.uk/consumers

You can recycle your old electricals with us.
We are pleased to offer our customers the chance to recycle their old electrical items. When buying a new electrical item from us you can return your old one bought in the online shop on mambaby.com/gb to us and we will ensure it is correctly recycled. Postage and customs duty is at your own cost. You can return your item to:
