These are the three important steps of climate neutrality. Climate-neutral means that the CO2 emissions, calculated along the supply chain, are constantly reduced, and any remaining, unavoidable CO2 emissions are compensated for by supporting climate protection projects.

1. We calculate
We worked together with sustainability consultants denkstatt GmbH to record the CO2 emissions of our MAM pacifiers and put together a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF). Taking the cradle-to-customer plus end-of-life approach, we looked at raw materials, production, packaging, logistics, and disposal.
In our view, it is important to keep our CO2 footprint as small as possible, right from the start. This is why we are taking action to cut carbon emissions along the entire supply chain:
  •  Raw materials - Bio-renewable material:The new bio-renewable material for the pacifier shield and button of MAM Original Pure can be traced back 100% to renewable raw materials. These are residues from vegetable oil production and vegetable oils that have already been used. The CO2 emissions are therefore reduced, compared to fossil-based plastic.
  • Production - Measures to cut down on CO2 in our factories: In our production plants in Hungary and Thailand, we cut down on CO2 by implementing numerous energy-efficiency measures and generating electricity through solar energy.
  • Sales - Measures to cut down on CO2 at our premises: Our sales offices also work constantly on reducing CO2, by promoting sustainable employee mobility and logistics, for example.
  • Measures to cut down on CO2 for parents: Our pacifiers can be quickly and easily sterilized with the MAM transport and sterilizer box – this saves up to 77% of energy and CO2 compared to boiling on the stove top. Calculate your savings with the MAM CO2 calculator.

Our renewable and bio-circular materials

Safety and quality always take priority at MAM. After years of research and numerous tests, we have found the ideal, more sustainable alternative to fossil-based plastic for our pacifiers. Bio-circular polypropylene has exactly the same positive properties as fossil-based polypropylene, that is to say, safety, durability, heat resistance, and breaking strength.

What is meant by bio-renewable materials?

Our new MAM Original Pure pacifier provides the same great advantages as the MAM Original pacifier. However, the pacifier shield, button, and sterilizer box are made from bio-renewable materials, or to be more precise, plastic (polypropylene). And what makes this plastic so special? Thanks to the  ISCC PLUS certified mass balance approach, it can be traced back 100% to renewable raw materials, that is, residues from vegetable oil production and already used vegetable oils.
